Parents and carers are being urged to take part in information evenings at local schools which focus on proposed changes to the school week.

Geoff Hobson, Chair Websters’ High School Parent Council, said: “I feel it is important that a good number of parents are informed and involved. Information Evenings about these proposed changes are being held for parents at each of the Angus secondary schools. This will be followed by an on-line consultation for parents.”

The proposed changes would see a change from 35 periods to 33 periods in the secondary school week.

While information sessions for Forfar, Arbroath Academy, Monifieth and Montrose have all taken place, sessions are planned tonight (Monday) for Webster’s High School, Brechin High School on February 2, Carnoustie High School on February 8 and Arbroath High School on February 10. All sessions run from 6.30 to 8pm.

A council spokesperson confirmed that the local authority is part way through 24 consultations about potential changes to the secondary school week – with staff, parents and young people. An electronic survey will run from February 11 to March 18.
