EVERY year it seems that Christmas is getting earlier and earlier. But I for one don’t have a problem with it.
Everywhere you go there seems to be the same old miseries that talk about how irritating the festive season is as a whole.
Why be so miserable? It’s a beautiful time of year to just enjoy life. The cold weather, tacky decorations, sometimes questionable food included.
As I write this I am sitting in our office, already bedecked with Christmas lights in November (yes! November!) and the sounds of a brass band can be heard down the street as the town lights get switched on outside.
My colleague Hannah and I both agree that it’s been a lovely evening, it just feels like Christmas is coming. Cheesy and ridiculous as that sounds.
I love Christmas, and not just the day itself. The whole buzz around the place, the specials on the TV, the movies, the football on Boxing Day, even the terrible songs in every shop you go into over, and over, and over again.
Sometimes it just feels like folk are being negative about Christmas through habit, they complain about all there is to be done, the expense and so on and so on. But that’s not what Christmas is about!
It only ever happens once a year so embrace it, stop being so miserable for the sake of it and enjoy the peaceful wee moments this time of year can bring.
