Ice-cream connection

Mrs Sheona Smith conducted the recent meeting of St Andrew’s Kirriemuir Church Guild introducing Mr Michael Visocchi.

He gave a most interesting talk on the history of ice cream and about his family’s connection with Kirriemuir since 1930, illustrated by many photographs taken by family members over the years which included the development of the business and the early methods of transport used to sell ice cream.

He also told of how, although his family were interned during World War 2, their premises were left intact by the local people.

He ended his talk by showing a photograph of his Aunt Brigit, well known by most of the audience. It brought back many fond memories of days gone by and got members reminiscing.

Michael was thanked by Mrs Evelyn Shaw before a busy “Bring and Buy” sale raised the gratifying sum of £103. 75.
