A FORMER pupil of Forfar Academy, who has volunteered in the local community in various groups and organisations for the last two years, has taken up a post helping street children in Hong Kong.
Seventeen-year-old Rachel Scott left the town on Thursday to spend for nine months volunteering with the St Stephen’s Society.
After completing her sixth year at the Academy in June, Rachel took up a position with the Society at a large drug rehabilitation centre.
The centre also helps children who have run away from home and are sleeping rough on the streets of Hong Kong to adapt back into family life.
Rachel received great encouragement and support from the new Forfar Community Church in this venture and gave a short presentation on Tuesday evening.
She has been active in the Forfar community helping with Lippen Care for just over two years, she was a helper at the Wednesday Rainbow Guides for two-and-a-half years and has been a paper delivery girl (delivering the Dispatch among others) since January 2008.
