St John’s Church in Forfar has organised a number of events in the lead-up to the celebration of Easter.
During Holy Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, the Scottish Plainsong Choir will be at St John’s Church in Forfar.
Originating in the early days of the Christian church, Plainsong was developed as liturgical music during the medieval period and is traditionally sung without musical accompaniment.
The choir will sing the short evening service of Compline; starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, this quite contemplative service will be open to anyone who cares to attend.
Thursday, April 2, is Maundy Thursday when the congregation of St John’s will join the Episcopal congregation of St Mary’s Church in Kirriemuir
On Good Friday (April 3), a period of prayers and meditation from 2 to 3 p.m. will be led by the Rev Ian Young.
