Patients of the Academy Medical Centre and Ravenswood Surgery in Forfar will have two names to choose from for the new merged practice.

Patients were asked to come up with a name for their new practice and the favoured options are Chapel Park Healthcare Centre and Steeple Healthcare Centre.

Diane Meek, Practice Manager at Academy Medical Centre, said: “There have been lots of great suggestions made for a name for the new practice, with 33 suggestions on the table for consideration.

“We are really grateful that people have taken the time to make suggestions for a new name, as well as make positive suggestions about the improvements they would like to see in the new practice.

“We asked our Patient Participation Group to consider all the suggested names and come up with a shortlist of preferred options.

“We’d now like to invite the public to get involved in voting for the final practice name.”

Andrea added that the practices are now also able to share some information about the new healthcare model, taking on board feedback and concerns from both patient populations.

She continued: “It is great that so many people have contributed to this process and we are excited to know what our patients will decide is the most fitting name for our new practice.”

Board to which votes can be added will be displayed in the reception area of both practices up to March 27 or votes for the preferred name can be e-mailed to

The name of the new practice, which will open in the summer on the current site of the Academy Medical Centre, will be announced during the first week of April. Patients received a letter in February providing information about the merger, including details based on questions raised during a recent patient survey.
