‘Soup on Saturday’ served up in Kirrie

Soup on Saturday.
Soup on Saturday.

A group of volunteers in Kirriemuir is launching a social project which will bring members of the community together to enjoy a warm lunch and some company.

With Christmas over but the weather getting colder, many people are starting the New Year feeling the pinch.

The volunteers, who want to help those finding times a bit tough and those who would simply appreciate a bit of company, have decided to run an event called ’Soup on Saturday’.

Age Concern in Kirriemuir has kindly allowed the use of its premises in The Square this Saturday (January 24) from 12 to 2 p.m. where a selection of soups will be served.

All are welcome to go along and take part and there will be no charge.

As it is Burns Night this weekend, the soups will have a Scottish flavour.

There will be Scotch Broth, Cock-a-leekie and also a vegetarian lentil soup to cater for all tastes.

This venture will be held monthly and, in the first instance, will run until Easter.
