A FREE ‘Healthy Eating’ information morning for people living with diabetes is to be held at Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar on Wednesday, February 27, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
Organised by the Forfar Diabetes Forum the event, which will be held in the Lintrathen Room, it is aimed at people living in Forfar and the surrounding area who are living with diabetes. Families and carers are also welcome to attend.
The theme is ‘Healthy Eating’ and the session will be focusing on the importance of healthy eating for people living with diabetes.
During the morning Angus Community Health Partnership dietitian Suzie Balfour will be giving tips and advice on healthy eating as well as encouraging attendees to participate in fun and interactive activities that will test their current knowledge about managing their diet.
Light refreshments will be provided and it is hoped this event will be an opportunity to get together in a relaxed and informal environment and give people living with diabetes the chance to update or refresh skills and knowledge on managing and changing eating habits.
Rhona Guild, Primary Care Manager, Angus Community Health Partnership, said: “Eating a healthy diet is very important if you are a diabetic but knowing what to eat and what to avoid can be confusing at times. This morning aims to support people living with diabetes to make healthy food choices.
“So if you are living in the Forfar and Kirriemuir area and have Type2 diabetes then please come along to Whitehills and join this interactive and informative group to hear useful tips and advice on how to eat healthier and manage your diet.”
