Guide Dogs appeal for challenge help

Staff and volunteers at Guide Dogs in Scotland are appealing for help as they prepare to take on the challenge of a lifetime.

They have formed the Full Circle 2011 Team to take on the Guide Dogs Coniston Challenge on Saturday, September 10.

The team brings together all of the people involved in the production of a Guide Dog and includes one guide dog owner who will be participating on a tandem for the cycle event.

The team will climb mountains and traverse fells, cycle along trails and paddle across lakes, all within a strict time limit.

Full Circle 2011 Team members have set themselves a £7,500 fundraising target, and so to help them reach their goal, they have organised a coffee morning on Saturday, August 6 at Glens and Kirriemuir Old Parish Church Hall, Bank Street, Kirriemuir from 10am to 1pm.

There will be tea, coffee and squash and biscuits. There will also be a variety of stalls so please come along and support the Full Circle 2011 Team in their quest.

Peter Emmett, from Guide Dogs’ Events Team, said: “It costs £10 a day to develop and support each guide dog partnership, and as the charity relies on voluntary donations to fund the guide dogs service, every penny raised will make a life-changing difference to blind and partially-sighted people.”
