The four Angus groups of Contact the Elderly celebrated the charity’s 50th year with a tea-party hosted by Helen Oswald, Angus Provost.

Guests and volunteers joined the Lord Provost and council members in the Canmore Room in Forfar.

The Provost and Jean Malcolm, Contact the Elderly Area Organiser, cut a beautiful cake made especially for the event.

The charity currently has four groups in Brechin, Forfar, Montrose and Kirriemuir, but hopes to expand into the other Angus towns and surrounding areas.

Jean said: “It would be wonderful if more Angus groups could be formed in the charity’s Golden Jubilee year.

“Contact the Elderly tries to combat loneliness in older people by having monthly tea parties on a Sunday afternoon, where guests and volunteers can meet together for a chat, laughter and of course tea and cake.”

Volunteer drivers collect guests on one Sunday every month and stay for tea. Volunteer hosts provide a simple afternoon tea once a year if possible.
