The East and Old Church in Forfar is set to swing with festive fun this weekend when to events in its Christmas calendar will take place.

On Friday the church will hold its third annual Christmas Tree Competition and while entries are being invited, there are already teams registered from Guides, Rainbows, BBs and church groups.

Last year more than 15 teams battled it out to to put their own decorations, on the theme of ‘Carols’, on a tree provided within the 45-minute time limit. Defending champions Strathmore Funeral Directors and 2nd Forfar BB are out to win back the trophy again this year.

The contest, which is on a pantomime theme, starts at 6.30 p.m.

After the judging and presentation, mince pies will be enjoyed to the singing of carols. Everyone is welcome for what promises to be a fun Christmas evening.

The church’s annual Christmas Concert, meanwhile, will be held this Sunday (December 7) from 6.30 p.m.

Again, a fun evening is promised with all sorts of entertainment- singing, stories, poems, choral group, piano-playing and dancing.

Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children with refreshments at the interval. Everyone is welcome for a heart-warming evening of Christmas cheer.
