ANGUS Council is hosting a workshop for local companies on Thursday, February 28 at Glamis Castle, to help businesses benefit from the 2013 Angus Autumn Festivals.
The four festivals, Angus Heritage Festival, A Taste of Angus Festival, Angus Autumn Adventures (outdoor festival) and the Angus Autumn Golf Festival are taking place in September and October.
Particularly aimed at accommodation providers, restaurants and cafes the workshop will outline details of each of the festivals and give local businesses some ideas about how they can benefit from the events and highlight opportunities for them to get involved and attract more visitors.
Encouraging business to attend the workshop the council’s business spokesperson councillor Mairi Evans said: “September and October are the ‘shoulder months’ of the traditional tourism season, when visitor numbers can start to tail off. The purpose of these four festivals is to extend the season and attract additional visitors to Angus, highlighting the breadth of visitor experience this area offers – our local businesses play a key role in making that experience one to remember.”
At the workshop attendees will hear from organisations and businesses that have benefited from working with local festivals, their pitfalls as well as their successes. There will be the opportunity to discuss with other Angus businesses how to collaborate to get the most from the Autumn Festivals and how to raise the profile of your business through participation.
Ian Burrell owner of The House of Mark explained, “We’ve signed up to attend the workshop to find out more about the festivals and how our business can benefit. Particularly in these difficult times for business I think that it is essential that we need to work at attracting visitors to Angus and the Autumn Festivals have the potential to do that. Therefore it makes good business sense to try and encourage some of these visitors through your door and hopefully once they have seen what Angus has to offer they will come back time and time again.”
The workshop aims to help Angus businesses make the most of the Autumn Festivals so if you are interested in attending please register your interest in the workshop at www.angusahead.com/AutumnFestReg.
