A generous donation from a Forfar runner will make a big difference to a leading Scottish charity.

Sandra Mearns ran the Glen Clova Half Marathon last November and raised an amazing £1,920 for local charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland and the same amount again for Alzheimer’s Scotland

Sandra, a member of Forfar Road Runners, presented the cheque to CHSS Regional Fund-raiser Heather Morrell who said: “This very generous donation will make a real impact on our ability to continue supporting those affected by chest, heart and stroke illness across Scotland and we’re extremely grateful to Sandra - and all her friends and family who sponsored her - for all her efforts on our behalf.

“Grateful thanks also to the Robertson Trust which boosted Sandra’s fund-raising efforts by doubling the amount she raised.

“CHSS needs to raise £6 million a year to support our local services which include stroke nurses, volunteer stroke groups, affiliated heart and chest support groups and an Advice Line offering confidential advice and information for patients and carers on 0845 077 6000.

“There is also a website where information and useful links can be found and publications and videos downloaded at www.chss.org.uk”
