Angus Council and the Muir Group have announced the latest investment at Orchardbank which is the main business park in Forfar.

Jointly developed by the Muir Group and Angus Council the park has attracted headquarters for both Angus Council and the Scottish Guide Dogs Association.

A further investment of £3 million has been secured as a result of the decision by Marstons PLC and KFC to construct new restaurant facilities at the park’s entrance. These projects will create over 50 new jobs for the town and provide a boost for the service and tourism sectors in the area.

Commenting on the announcement John Muir chairman of the Muir Group said: “We have been working in partnership with Angus Council for a number of years and it is this combination of public and private sector expertise that has resulted in over £3 million of investment being secured. We will be constructing the restaurant for Marstons with the building due to be completed later this year. I believe that in the current difficult economic conditions there is much to be gained by working closely with the public sector and look forward to continuing our relationship with the council in the future.”

Councillor Iain Gaul, Leader of Angus Council added: “In order to deliver the community plan and the council’s economic development strategy it is essential that we work with the private sector and the partnership investment to date by the Muir Group and the council has been a critical factor in making today’s announcement possible. I welcome the £3 million investment and also the 50 jobs which will be created by Marstons and KFC. I am sure they will prosper given the prime location they have chosen at the town’s main entrance.”
