Fund-raising Asda bag-pack

A local charity is looking for volunteer helpers to give up an hour of their time to help bag pack at the new Asda in Forfar to raise money for a charity run by Letham woman, Helen Henderson.

For several years now Helen has been splitting her time between Letham and Nepal where she runs the New Dawn Children’s Home for 10 Nepali children whom she has pledged to support until they reach adulthood.

Helen manages to support all 10 children (plus the house parents and theirn children) on less than £10,000 a year. Letham Primary often support Helen by asking their pupils and parents to donate any clothing that might fit the children in Nepal.

Although Helen has secured ongoing support from a French funder, she still has to raise much of the annual funding herself. Helen’s friend Karen hit upon the idea of bag packing in the new Asda in Forfar, she said: “Helen is already out in Nepal for this year but I thought it would be a great start to her fund raising for next year if I could organise a bag pack in the run up to Christmas so that local people could show their support from across the sea to Helen and her children in Nepal.

It would be the best Christmas present Helen could receive!”

If you are able to spare an hour of your time on Saturday, December 3 between 12.30 and 4.30 pm to help pack bags, Karen would be delighted to hear from you contact her on 07890 935299 or e-mail - any support would be gratefully received.
