TWO local lads who are undertaking a fund-raising drive in aid of Alzheimer Scotland have received a welcome boost in the form of a £250 Forfar Roof Truss Company Limited sponsorship cheque.
Steven Robbie and Graeme Clark popped along to the Orchardbank Industrial estate headquarters of the company on Friday evening, to accept the cheque from Alan Hampton.
Steven and Graeme embarked on their fund-raising effort on behalf of Alzheimer Scotland (Action on Dementia ) on May 22 when they completed the Aberdeen 10k race.
“Our aim is to train and take part in a number of athletic events, ranging from 10K runs to half marathons, leading to the Nokia Scotland Coast to Coast challenge in September,” explains Steven.
“Having completed the Aberdeen 10K our next event is the Dundee Half Marathon on July 17.
“The £250 donation will help greatly towards our entry fee and essential accommodation for The Nokia Coast to Coast challenge in September, when we will bid to complete the 105 miles from Nairn to Glen Coe.
“Graeme has witnessed first hand the affects of Alzheimers, with family members suffering from the illness.
“We strongly believe in this charity and hope to raise a good amount of money to help their cause.”
For those groups, clubs, organisations and individuals in the Forfar-Kirriemuir area unsuccessful with their application, the Forfar Roof Truss Company Limited sponsorship scheme continues for the remainder of the year.
Full details on how to apply for a £250 sponsorship cheque are outlined on page 20 of this week’s Dispatch and Herald.
