THE FORFAR Resource store is appealing for items to create starter packs for homeless people moving into accommodation.

The starter packs, for the homeless moving into their own accommodation, contain necessary items for people moving into a home with useful items such as bedding, towels, dishes, pots and pans, cleaning materials such as toilet cleaner, multi-purpose cleaner and furniture polish as well as a kettle, toaster, microwave and an iron.

Ann Nicoll, the manager at the Forfar Resource Store, said: “We wish to thank everyone who has donated items over the past year, both large and small donations, as they are all put to good use. We are grateful for any and all donations that we receive.”

She added: “We are most grateful to the public for donating good-quality items that can be recycled. We accept furniture, dishes, bedding, curtains, ornaments, electrical items, in fact anything that is needed to make a house a home. Items we have distributed to our clients include crockery, cutlery, clothing, bedding, soft furnishings, carpets, electrical goods, toys, garden tools, furniture and household items.”

Councillor Glennis Middleton, the chairperson of the Forfar Resource Store for 15 years, said: “Anyone can fall into hard and difficult times. The Resource Store can not only assist those who have found themselves homeless but hopes to provide good value for the general public.”

The charity accepts donations of anything that can be used by anyone else as long as it is in reasonable condition; for example suites must carry a fire label. The items that are collected are sorted out by the team of workmen and volunteers.

The store also sells a variety of good quality used furniture with items such as sofas, cookers, microwaves and other kitchen appliances, ornaments, children’s toys and garden equipment.

All items of furniture are professionally cleaned before going on sale and are in an as ‘good-as-new’ condition.

You can visit the Forfar Resource Store with items to donate or larger items can be arranged to be uplifted. Collections and deliveries can be done by the Forfar Resource Store’s van.

All are welcome to browse the furniture and household items the store have on offer in a friendly atmosphere and the Forfar Resource Store can be found at 9 Don Street, in Forfar and is open from Monday to Friday 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Resource Store is also open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
