Forfar’s recently revived community council will meet for the first time tonight (Thursday) to decide its new agenda for the town and district.
The committee fell into abeyance after it failed to attract the required number of nominations during an extended nomination period in September and October last year.
But a successful petition organised by local businessman and former member Ian Whyte prompted arrangements for the community council’s re-establishment. It attracted 13 nominees, all of whom have been duly elected to serve.
Mr Whyte this week said, however, that with a maximum membership of 18 there is still room for more new blood and he is particularly keen to see Forfar Academy becoming involved.
He said: “There’s still room for more and we’re looking for some sections of the committee not represented to come forward, including young people and that’s one of the first things I’d like to see. We all have our own issues, so I’m not in a position to say what the priorities are, I’d rather have the meeting to find out what everyone else thinks.”
The meeting will be held in Town and County Hall at 7pm.
