Firefighters are currently battling a major fire at a farm in Carmyllie.

Scottish Fire & Rescue received a call at 2.05pm today (Tuesday) regarding a fire which had broken out at Backmuir Farm, Carmyllie.

A single storey derelict house was completely destroyed in the blaze and 30 straw bales adjacent to the building also went on fire.

Four fire appliances attended the incident, two from Forfar, one from Arbroath and one from Dundee.

Firefighters deployed two main jets and two sets of breathing apparatus to combat the fire.

At the time of publication the stop signal had not been sent.
