The final allocation tickets for the ninth annual MoFest, with headliner Jools Holland, has been made available to the public.

With just over a week to go until MoFest weekend (May 27-29), tickets for Jools Holland, with support from Red Sky July, have surpassed the original allocation and extra tickets have been released.

Les Kidger, Director of LCC Live, which is working in partnership with MoFest to deliver Jools Holland’s show, said: “Ticket sales to Jools Holland have been exceptional. We’ve released an additional allocation of tickets, which continue to sell strongly.

“Jools Holland is a totally different music concept to what we’ve delivered in the past at MoFest and it’s going to be a spectacular performance. Musically, this is the most exciting show we’ve done on the East Links, and certainly it’s one that I will be watching throughout. It’s going to be fantastic!”

Launching MoFest 2016 in style is Red Sky July (made up of Ally McErlaine, Shelly Poole and Charity Hair), who will take to the stage ahead of Jools Holland on the Friday night for what is the only ticketed show of the weekend.

Les Kidger added: “Red Sky July are phenomenal performers. We’ve worked with the band in the past, having met Ally first, as a member of Texas. Texas is a band we would love to bring to MoFest – they’re on my wish list, so hopefully one day!”

There is a sense of excitement and anticipation brewing as music fans get ready for another big weekend of live music.

Returning with 26 venues and over 120 gigs, MoFest fans have the chance to see some old favourites alongside some brand new acts.

MoFest has joined forces with Burnside Brewery to introduce the Rhythm & Brews Stage and the High Street will again house the ‘Market Street’ area with some of the best local food and drink products for sale including Arbikie Distillery, which will be serving up its signature cocktails. And, back by popular demand is the fundraising shop window where some of the weekend’s artists play short slots to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

David Paton, Chairman of the Montrose Music Festival, said: “We’re delighted with how this year’s Montrose Music Festival is shaping up. We’ve seen a recent surge in tickets to see Jools Holland and we’re really hoping to attract more visitors to the festival, which this year is bigger and better.

“We’ve more acts taking place in more venues, making MoFest 2016 a truly special weekend for visitors, music lovers and performers.”

Over 20 new bands have been added to this year’s line-up, joining MoFest regulars including: Ali & the Nutsacks, who are back by popular demand; Buffalo Soldiers; Headroom; KJB; Last Orders; Late Landing; and The Holy Ghosts, who supported Status Quo at MoFest 2014.

Newcomers include: Alannah Moar; The Arcades; Dundee-formed, Benedictus; Blue Highway, an established and popular blues and rock and roll five-piece band from Montrose; The Brothers Reid; Colin Clyde; Courtney Elena; rock band, DeLorean; Montrose-based Medicine Well; Still Standing Still and Union Chapel.

There are also three new venues - Pavilion Cafe, St Mary’s & St Peter’s Church and The Rhythm & Brews Stage at the Town Hall – and the Survivors Night (Sunday, May 29) has a new home at Sharkys, where the last standing musicians will have free reign of an open mic session at the official MoFest after party.

David added: “There’s so much on offer this year, and we can’t forget Bryan Adams’ performance in August, as part of the MoFest offering. It’s going to be spectacular and there is much excitement that such a world-renowned artist will be performing on the East Links this summer.

“Bryan Adams joins the eclectic mix of artists that have performed in Montrose. We’ve had the unforgettable Madness; Cast; Ash; Status Quo; Deacon Blue; Ocean Colour Scene to name a few, so to be able to add Jools Holland, Red Sky July and Bryan Adams to that list is just phenomenal and reinforces Montrose as a premier live music destination.”
