Members of Tayside Symphony Orchestra are all set for their first concert of the year which takes place on Saturday, February 7 in the Reid Hall, Forfar.
The ‘February Flourish’ features an interesting programme of very popular musical items, consisting of selections from ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Wicked’ as well as Barber’s ‘Adagio’, ‘Si J’etais roi’ by Adam and Heraold’s ‘Zampa’ overture.
The conductor is Andrew McGarva, deputy head of the prep school and director of music at Kilgraston School, Bridge of Earn.
Bill McLeod, TSO chairman, said: “In the continuing absence of Ron Walker, due to ill-heatlh, Andrew will again be our conductor at this concert.
“Ron has decided that June 20 will be the last concert in which he would play an active part.
“We hope to have a bumper audience at the February concert to welcome the orchestra’s start to a new year and to support all the efforts of Andrew and the musicians. Ron also hopes to attend the concert.”
