ANGUS Carers Centre is hosting a Family Fun Day for young carers and families who are currently being supported by the centre.
Around 120 carers are expected to attend the event which is being held at Monikie Park.
The day will consist of a barbecue as well as a variety of sports and activities for those who attend. It is hoped that the day will provide an excellent opportunity for families involved in caring to spend quality time together and to meet with other families in similar circumstances.
The Fun Day has been made possible thanks to the support of a number of local companies including Robertsons Butchers, Alexanders Bakers, David McLeish (Active Schools co-ordinator) and a number of other volunteers and staff who are giving their time.
The Young Carers Service is part of Angus Carers Centre, the local charity started in 1996 for those who care for a family member.
The centre is part of the UK-wide Princess Royal Trust for Carers network.
Currently working with around 200 young carers, it is thought that this is only the tip of the iceberg and that there are many more young carers who have not been identified and in fact may not even realise themselves that they are a young carer.
