AN Angus Council committee officer who has attended countless local authority meetings over the past 24 years has moved to another role.
Elaine Whittet has been responsible for distributing agendas, keeping minutes of meetings and offering procedural advice at council meetings since the late 1980s.
She is now taking up a job as support manager to the chief executive. At a meeting of the development standards committee last week, convener David Lumgair said: “Elaine has been an employee of Angus Council for over 20 years, since the inception of the council.
“I have figured out that she has attended 231 meetings of the development standards committee, which I think deserves a medal.”
Elaine, who will be replaced by Sarah Forsyth, said she would miss her job, but looked forward to working with councillors in a different capacity.
