Pupils from Forfar Academy are set to pitch themselves against some of the area’s smartest scientific academics in a ‘Tayside Since Eggheads’ quiz.
The event, organised by Abertay University, is part of Dundee Science Festival and the teams have been chosen after weeks of heats.
The winning schools from each of the participating regions, as well as Forfar Academy, are Menzieshill High School from Dundee and Blairgowrie High School representing Perth and Kinross.
The ‘Egghead’ Professors will be David Bremner and Graeme Walker from Abertay University, Tracy Palmer from the University of Dundee, Martin Ryan from the University of St Andrews and Lesley Torrance from the James Hutton Institute.
Dr Alan Bruce, principle organiser and senior lecturer in Food and Life Sciences at Abertay, said: “Once again, we’ve been on a mission to pinpoint the top science talent being nurtured within local schools and this year’s regional qualifiers have once again been very impressive.
“We’ve unearthed some truly bright and inspirational youngsters who are revving up to compete against our local academics, and possibly even embarrass some of them in the process!”
The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Friday (November 7) in Abertay University’s main lecture theatre, Room 2516, Kydd Building, Bell Street, Dundee. Admission is free.
