WHITEHILLS Primary School in Forfar was taken over by characters from children’s books to celebrate the recent World Book Day.
Throughout the day children developed their literacy skills by listening to and discussing their favourite books.
Several classes also joined in the live web link to Francesca Simeon the author of Horrid Henry, who was discussing how she got her ideas for each story.
Each class worked on language activities linked to specific aspects of literacy and social subjects that they had been working on throughout the year.
These activities will be displayed in the school library so that all children can share their learning.
The children also participated in a book swap where they brought a book in to swap; this encouraged the children to make a choice about the book they wished to swap and their new book through looking carefully at the blurb.
It was wonderful to see so many children excited about looking at and learning about books.
