For several years, Mike Provan has been the tutor for the very popular wood carving evening class run by the Forfar Association for Continuing Education (F.A.C.E) at Forfar Academy.

To celebrate the success of the woodcarving classes, Mike has very kindly carved the F.A.C.E. emblem which was presented to Margaret Valentine, Chairperson of F.A.C.E. and members of the committee at The Meffan museum and art gallery.

The presentation took place amongst the Meffan’s collection of Pictish stones.

Commenting afterwards Margaret said: “The emblem has a very Pictish flavour to it and so The Meffan seemed an appropriate venue.

“The carved emblem will be on display during our evening class registrations on Friday, September 28 between 2 and 4 p.m. and on Saturday, September 29, between 10 am 12 noon at Forfar Library, should any members of the public wish to see it”.

Mike’s wood carving classes for F.A.C.E., will be starting again in October and he also teaches classes at Perth College.

Should you wish any further information on this class or any of the other classes that F.A.C.E. run, the registration forms will be available at Angus Libraries or at The Meffan in Forfar.”
