A DATE has been set for the formal merger of Dundee and Angus Colleges.

Friday, November 1, 2013, is the target date for the creation of the new college to be created when these two organisations merge. Officially known as ‘Vesting Day’ this will see a new, as yet unnamed, college coming into being to serve the educational and training needs of the Angus burghs, Dundee city and the rural environs.

A lot of work has been going in preparation for this new organisation. The TPB (Tayside Partnership Board) has been set up to lead the merger process, with delegated authority from the boards of both colleges in relation to specific matters.

At the first meeting of this new body a number of important resolutions were made including the decision to appoint a team from the City of Glasgow Merger Centre as project managers who will work with staff and students at both Angus and Dundee Colleges in a bid to help them contribute fully to the forthcoming process.

Law firm Thorntons and accountants Scott-Moncrieff will also be appointed to carry out legal and financial due diligence.

“There is a lot of rigorous planning and preparation involved from now on,” said Kish Srinivasan, TPB chairman.

“The overarching aim of this merger is to enhance the provision available to both employers and learners in the region and we will undertake extensive consultation with students, staff and external stakeholders in order to get their views.”
