The Forfar Academy S1/S2 girls netball team travelled to Webster’s High School for a friendly match on Monday, March 5 and came out on top with a final score of 11 – 5.
A big well done to the hard work and determination of the nine players who brought victory: Maggie Forsyth, Neve Fordyce, Helen Egan, Rachael Reid, Lucy Egan, Lisa Hutcheson, Robyn Ward, Orla Kinnear, and Megan Baty. Forfar S1-S3 girls took part in the Cashback 7 a side tournament at Dundee University’s ground, Riverside, Dundee on Thursday, March 8.
The results were as follows – Craigie 0, Forfar 0; Forfar 2, Grove 1; Forfar 4, Menzieshill 0; Forfar 1, Webster’s A 0; Forfar 3, Morgan 0 and Forfar 5 Webster B 0.
The girls now qualify for the next round of the tournament which is a great achievement, well done girls.
The S1 Boys basketball team qualified for the semi-final of the Scottish Cup on Thursday, March 8.
The boys beat Stirling High 24-19 in a great team performance against a very tall and mobile Stirling team and they will not meet Millburn Academy from Inverness in the semi.
On the other side of the coin, the Senior Girls football team were knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the last 16 stage, by a solid Carnoustie side.
The girls played well but couldn’t put the finishing touches to all their play and were finally defeated 7-3. The girls have had a great run in the Scottish this year and still have the Angus to play for.
The senior boys football were knocked out of the Murray Fenwick (Angus Cup) competition by local rivals Webster’s High School.
After a first that was dominated by Forfar, they led 1-0 at half-time.
The Webster’s came out strong in the second half and used the wind to their advantage to run out 2-1 winners.
It was a close and well contested game played in good spirits by all.
