Local MP Mike Weir met with representatives of Guide Dogs for the Blind, and some of their trainee Guide Dogs, at a recent Christmas reception in the Houses of Parliament.
The organisation was thanking members for their help in campaigns during the year and pressing their current campaign on pavement parking.
Mr Weir said: “It is always good to meet with the representatives of Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. They are always very good at promoting their campaigns and working in the interests of the blind and partially sighted.
“Recent campaigns have focused on the dangers posed by street furniture and also by cars parking on pavements. These can be irritating for most of us but can be very serious indeed for those who are blind.”
