With Easter fast approaching the Kirriemuir Rotary Club of Kirriemuir is putting the finishing touches to its annual Duck Race in Kirriemuir Den.
This year children are being encouraged to come along with their decorated Easter bonnets or painted eggs to the event on Sunday, March 27. There will also be a children’s treasure hunt.
The first race commences at 1pm, regardless of the weather, and in traditional style the 100 bright yellow ducks will race down the burn in an effort to reach the final
This will involve the first 10 winners from each heat race take part in the final with the owner of the winning duck walking away with prize money of £125.
The much sought-after ducks will be available to buy in the Co-op Kirriemuir on this Friday (March 18) and Saturday (March 19) or from any Rotarian in Kirriemuir.
The International Committee is responsible for putting the plans together for the day and this year the committee is working with the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas to repair earthquake damage and provide water and sanitation facilities.
