Final Splash cheques presented in Kirriemuir
At the presentation ceremony at Webster’s Sport Centre in Kirriemuir, cheques for £1080 were presented to Ronald McDonald House, which supports families during children’s specialist medical treatment; Angus Toy Appeal, which helps deliver presents to deserving families; Operacion San Andres in Peru, a medical service with connections to Kirriemuir; Dr Graham’s Homes Kalimpong, India, which provides education and care to deprived Anglo-Indian children.
Also present were Hannah Dryden, Kira McKay and Leah Buist, sixth year pupils from Webster’s High School who kindly helped out at the event as lane counters. Rev Canon Dr Robert Harley represented St Mary’s Church at the presentation, while Ronald McDonald House was represented by Sharon Flannigan, Angus Toy Appeal by Sheila Whitelaw and St Andrews Church by Charlotte Brown.
A spokesperson for Splash said: “The Splash committee would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the event possible, and especially to long-serving member Bill Allan, whose hard work and dedication managed to get the event off the ground again after a short hiatus last year. The committee has said the event will be back in 2017.
