FORFAR Rotary Club has done its bit to help out with fund-raising for the local Forfarian Bus.
A total of £25,000 is needed to replace the existing bus in no small part due to the failure of the wheelchair lifting platform, just one of the many problems encountered, leading to costly repairs.
Intermittent faults have led to people being stuck at the roadside and, even worse, stuck inside the vehicle. Thankfully, the Fire and Rescue Service provided assistance on the day and have offered to assist should the need ever arise again.
Forfar Rotary Club president Tim Hale went along to present the Community Bus Trust with a cheque for £500 to assist in their fund raising efforts.
Tim explained that this is another way of thanking the Forfar public for all that they do in support of the Rotary Club and is seen as another aspect of giving something back to a local charity for their excellent voluntary work.
On handing over the cheque to chairman Kate McFarlane he passed on the best wishes of the Rotary Club and hoped they succeed in raising their ultimate target.
For years the Forfarian has provided a very affordable transport service for local voluntary groups including churches, disabled and sheltered housing residents, residents’ associations and the elderly and infirm thus providing an invaluable service.
