THIS year’s annual flower show and exhibition organised by Forfar Horticultural Society will provide a welcome boost for the Special Care Baby Unit at Ninewells Hospital.
Included in the schedules is a new class for a premature baby cardigan, with all entries (if agreeable) donated to the life-saving unit.
Show treasurer Mrs Mary Craib made a visit to the unit last week and was told donations of knitted items are always gratefully received to assist the babies as they under-go special treatment in the unit.
She said: “They are very grateful for anything they can get.
“I took along two cardigans I had knitted and they said they would be perfect, although they couldn’t take anything any bigger!”
Hats and bootees all help in the care of the premature babies, as do cardigans in sizes 10, 12, or 14.
The cardigans will form part of the handicrafts section at the annual flower show and exhibition organised by the Society, which takes place this year on Friday and Saturday, August 24 and 25.
Donations of knitted cardigans for the SCBU which are not show entries can also be handed in on show days.
Show schedules are available from Mary at 11 Yeaman Street, Forfar (tel: 465626) or any committee member.
