DON STREET in Forfar re-opened after the weekend as it had been closed for repairs.
The roadworks, which started last month on Monday, September 10, were expected to last for three weeks but due to the recent poor weather conditions it left the road closed for carriageway surfacing and drainage works and still under repair.
The repairs had exceeded the approximate three week time frame that was given for the task to be completed.
There were diversions in place which ran through the Brechin Road, Market Street and John Street to prevent disruption for motorists.
The road surface had been deteriorating over a period of time and it is an 80-metre stretch of surface water culvert that is in need of repair.
An Angus Council spokesperson said: “The delays in the work at Don Street have been due to the recent bad weather and difficulties encountered in working in a very congested site amongst other utilities’ apparatus.”
