Disappointment at route planned

Angus South MSP Graeme Dey has expressed disappointment that representations he made to Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London 2012 Olympics Organising Committee, have not forced a rethink on the route that the Olympic Torch will take around Scotland.

The Angus South MSP asked that he consider either Arbroath Abbey or Glamis Castle, which is effectively already on the route as it passes along the A94 from Forfar to Meigle.

Mr Dey said: “I am disappointed by the stance taken by Sebastian Coe on this issue.

“It seemed to me a reasonable, and easy to grant, request but unfortunately the organisers held a different view.”
