The Kirriemuir branch of the Saltire Society chose two destinations in Dundee for their annual outing.
The visit to the McManus began with an interesting introductory talk before members explored the newly displayed exhibitions.
The second destination was Dundee Botanical Gardens where lunch was enjoyed. Members gathered again for a fascinating conducted tour, a world tour in effect, with planting grouped by climatic zones of continents. It was hard to believe so much was maintained by so few in this large area.
It was voted a very successful outing and acted as a reminder not to neglect places of interest on our own doorstep. Dundee features again on September 14 at 7.30 pm in the Old Parish Church Hall, Kirriemuir when Dr David Martin will give an illustrated talk on the History of the Dundee and Newtyle Railway. This will cover Dundee Heritage Trust, the Law tunnel and old Dundee stations. Visitors are most welcome, cost £4, or consider becoming a member.
