David Valentine retires after 37 years of service

DAVID Valentine, Angus Council’s head of economic development and environmental and consumer protection, is to retire.

The council approved Mr Valentine’s request for early retirement and he will leave on November 30.

Provost of Angus Helen Oswald paid tribute to David saying: “David Valentine has served the people of Angus for the past 37 years, most recently with Angus Council and before that Angus District Council.

“He has done so with absolute passion and commitment to the county.

“As the head of economic development he has been the driving force for many exciting projects and developments, bringing to each a fantastic blend of expertise, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial flair.

“Both personally and professionally David has been a true champion for Angus - locally, nationally and internationally - and I’m sure that retirement will do nothing to change that.”

Commenting on his decision to retire David said: “As you might imagine, after 37 years here in Angus, my decision is tinged with some regret. I consider myself very fortunate, having had the opportunity to not only drive forward some great projects but also to work with some incredibly talented and dedicated people in the council, our communities and our businesses.

“It has been a privilege to promote Angus here in Scotland and around the world and I will continue to support the council’s work in that regard, albeit as an active member of the community rather than an employee.”
