Angus gardeners are set to benefit from a free soil enhancer scheme.
From today (Wednesday), Angus Council is offering residents free soil enhancing compost at the Arbroath recycling centre for their gardens. The soil enhancer has been produced directly from the composting of Angus residents’ garden waste.
The council composts green waste collected from recycling centres and the green bin kerbside service. The waste is taken to Restenneth, near Forfar, where the material is processed and composted.
Most of the compost produced is currently used for land restoration of the landfill site at Restenneth, however a limited amount has now been made available for the public. Customers are advised that they are limited to three bags per visit and are asked to bring their own bags. Access is only during the centre’s opening hours.
