the final event to mark the refurbishment of Letham Church takes place on Saturday, April 28.
A group from the congregation of Dunnichen, Letham and Kirkden Church will carry the large wooden cross, which previously stood outside Dunnichen Church, to Letham Church and have it reset in the grounds.
This will coincide with the visit to Angus Presbytery of The Right Reverend David Arnott, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, who has agreed to be part of these proceedings.
The cross was originally carried from Letham to Dunnichen in 1974 during the ministry of Rev John Wilson, who will be there to accompany the cross on its return journey. The Rev. Wilson and will play his bagpipes for the occasion.
The procession will leave Dunnichen Church at 10.30 a.m. with the cross being transported for the first part of the journey in a trailer pulled by a vintage tractor owned by Ewan Cameron of Letham.
From the Girdle Stane, volunteers will shoulder the cross and carry it the remainder of the way into the village in a re-enactment of the original journey.
It is anticipated that the cross will arrive at Letham Church at 11.30 a.m. when the Moderator will deliver a short address. Those who are not able to take part in the walk can join the proceedings at this point.
Everyone is then warmly invited to stay and enjoy lunch with the Moderator and Rev John Wilson in the Church Hall immediately afterwards.
