Bobbies on the Tweet!

TAYSIDE Police Community liaison officers are now on social network site Twitter.

Officers in Forfar and Kirriemuir have been issued with smart ‘phones and they are being encouraged to use Twitter as a tool to reach out to the local community.

Constable Alan Bell, along with his colleague Constable Pam Colvin, are hoping readers will now follow them on the site: PCAlanBell@KirrieRuralPC and PCPamelaColvin@KirriemuirPC

Constable Bell said: “We are being encouraged to Tweet daily when on duty to let people know what we are up to.

“It’s our intention to make reference to crimes we are investigating with a view to having people contact us with information and hopefully help us “Make a Difference”.

“The mobiles have cameras and where possible I personally would like to upload photos of damage caused to heighten interest in the crimes with a view to detecting same.”

Tayside Police have issued listings of all their community officers but advise crimes should not be reporter using Twitter. Contact the number 0300 111 2222 and in an emergency dial 999.
