Residents in a quiet Forfar street have stepped up to the challenge to help improve their area.
A number in Reid Park Road have put their hands in their pockets after being approached by the successful Forfar in Flower Community Group.
Flower beds in the road leading up from St James Road to the Reid Park were due to be grassed over because of Angus Council’s budget cutbacks.
The Forfar in Flower community group then acted as facilitator to encourage the residents in Reid Park Road to meet and decide what they wanted.
The residents donated money to purchase plants and this figure was matched by the council.
Forfar in Flower agreed to buy and plant the beds after members in a Community Payback team cleared the overgrown old beds.
A spokesperson said: “This is a great example of how the local residents can club together to improve their local area and take a pride in their own environment.”
The planting up of the flower beds follows on from a similar project in the Boyle Park with local groups ‘adopting’ and caring for a flower bed.
