Staff from the Co-operative Food stores in both Kirriemuir and Forfar will join forces with local youngsters on Friday in a bid to clear litter from a local burn which has accumulated quite a lot of rubbish and debris.
Some colleagues from the food stores in The Roods and High Street in Kirriemuir and on Dundee Road and Academy Street, Forfar, will be joined by a group of children from Kirriemuir’s Sunshine Playschool.
As part of a team effort they plan to clear litter from a stretch of Gairie Burn, in The Den, Kirriemuir.
Helping the community is at the heart of what the Co-operative does and this is just one example of how the company offer their help with projects.
The organiser of the event, Lorna Burn, is also the manager at the Co-operative Food’s Kirriemuir superstore, in The Roods.
She said: “We’re proud of the role our stores play in the local community, and a simple activity like this is a great way for us to come together to benefit the local area. We’re delighted that children from the Sunshine Playschool will be helping as well, it should be a lot of fun.”
