Families and young people across the area enjoyed a trip to the much acclaimed Zippos Circus - thanks to Tayside’s largest law firm.

Thorntons donated 1,000 tickets for Zippos Circus to a number of charities and organisations who work with children and families throughout the area.

Zippos Circus performed in Forfar and Monifieth and a number of children had the opportunity to meet some of the acts before they took to the ring.

Charities and organisations to benefit from the donation included Cash for Kids, Help for Kids, the Brae Riding School, Kean’s Children’s Fund, TCCL, Grey Lodge and the social work department at Dundee City Council and Angus Council.

Alison Carr, charity executive at Cash for Kids, said: “On behalf of Cash for Kids, I would like to express sincere thanks to Thorntons for its generosity and continued support to the charity. A fantastic day at Zippos Circus was had by all the children and families who attended who would otherwise not have had this amazing opportunity and experienced such a fun day”.

Mary Sneddon, Brae Riding School centre manager, added: “The Brae was absolutely delighted Thorntons offered the chance for our riders to be gifted Zippos Circus tickets. It was a great chance to go to an external event as a Brae family, and for the kids and their families to socialise together. We are really pleased Thorntons recognise the work that we do and feel we are worthy of the support it offers.”

Zippos Circus has been on a three month tour of Scotland which will finish in August. The Carnaval themed show includes a range of acts like acrobats, motorbike riders, the Globe of Death, and Hercules the Strongman from Ukraine, who has just broken the Guinness World Record for juggling gigantic tyres!

Anne McKeown, partner at Thorntons Law Firm in Forfar, said: “The circus is a fantastic family event and we thought who better to donate 1,000 tickets to local organisations which would be able to put them to good use. The work all the groups do with families and young people is incredible; the trip to the circus gave the children and families the chance to do something different during the holidays and we are thrilled they enjoyed themselves.”
