Christmas at Kinnordy

Join in the fun at RSPB Loch of Kinnordy as staff celebrate the countdown to Christmas every day at the nature reserve.

Each day from December 1 to 24, visitors to Loch of Kinnordy will reveal a special wildlife-themed window on the Loch of Kinnordy advent calendar – designed exclusively for the RSPB nature reserve by staff and volunteers. The calendar will be available to open and view each day in the Gullery Hide.

There will also be an art competition for children and adults to take part in, and the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

All you have to do is base your entry around the theme of the specially designed advent calendar or the wildlife at Loch of Kinnordy.

Kim Ross, assistant warden at Loch of Kinnordy commented: “Winter is a wonderful time at Loch of Kinnordy.

“We have a wide variety of winter visitors here, such as teal, whooper swans, greylag geese and the red squirrel is always present too; which always gets me in the Christmas spirit.

“This event is a great opportunity for budding photographers and artists to photograph or draw some of the amazing wildlife we get here.”

Children are invited to design and draw their own Christmas card with pictures inspired by the advent images.

First prize is an exclusive RSPB singing robin toy, plus other goodies, including art crafts, sweets and a hand painted cup.

Runners up in second and third place will receive certificates and singing robin toys. The adult competition is aimed at art and photography enthusiasts who are invited to base their entries around the theme of Loch of Kinnordy’s wide range of wildlife, including birds, invertebrates and mammals. The prize on offer is a wonderful winter hamper full of tasty treats and gifts kindly donated by The Star Rock Shop, Bertram’s Quality Butchers and The Wendy House.

To enter the competition, please put your art work or photograph inside the box located in Gullery Hide at Loch of Kinnordy by December 25.

Include your name, address and telephone number with your entry. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, January 10.
