A ROUND of golf on Carnoustie Championship, Monifieth Medal, Panmure Barry and Montrose Medal, entry to a highly competitive amateur golf tournament and the accompanying programme of social events – all for the bargain price of £399!
That is what is on offer in the Carnoustie Country Classic which has already attracted golfers from across the globe - and there are still a few places available.
“The Carnoustie Country Classic offers fantastic value for money and a fabulous opportunity to play four of the world’s classic links courses,” said Jan Brodie of Monifieth Links, one of the organisers of the tournament, which runs from May 12 to May 16.
“It’s also an opportunity to test your golfing skills against golfers from across the globe. This year’s tournament has attracted golfers from America, Germany and Denmark, as well as the many British golfers who have signed up.”
The Carnoustie Country Classic consists of a 72-hole stableford competition with gents’, ladies’ and over-65s’ championship titles and daily individual prizes.
Entries are open to men and women golfers, with a maximum handicap of 24 (men) and 36 (women), with a limited number of places still available.
Jan stressed that the tournament is open to local and visiting golfers.
She said: “If accommodation is required, there’s an excellent choice locally, from guest houses to four star hotels.” She added that, for £599 per person, the tournament’s five-night stay-and-play package is available at the luxurious Carnoustie Golf Hotel (based on two people sharing a room, B&B).
“Our stay-and-play package is proving very popular this year,” said Jan, who explained that special rates are available for accompanying non-golfers.
As well as playing an iconic Open Championship course and three historic Open Qualifier courses, the Carnoustie Country Classic features a programme of social events, with a welcome reception at Panmure Golf Club, a hotly-contested quiz night and a gala prize-giving dinner at Carnoustie Golf Hotel.
“Many of the golfers who have booked for this year’s tournament have competed in previous Carnoustie Country Classics and they always comment very favourably on the off-course aspects of the tournament,” said Jan.
“In fact, several of them have competed in every Carnoustie Country Classic! Great golf, excellent accommodation and good company – it’s no wonder they return to the Carnoustie Country Classic year after year!”
