Brechin’s ‘Halloween in the City Cartie Race’ is back for its second year this Saturday and is shaping up to be bigger and better.

The course has been extended and is more challenging, covering the High Street, Bridge Street and finishing in River Street. This year’s event is also the last round of the Scottish Cartie Association Championship and will decide this year’s overall champion.

To coincide with the event, the Angus Farmers’ Market will return to town and will be located in Church Street from 9 a.m.. Early birds will also be able to watch the carties’ initial practice runs that will take place down the full length of the extended course between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. At 11.30 a.m. inline skaters will gather at the top of the High Street to race down the track to River Street. During the afternoon, skating star Ally Donaldson will perform a stunt show and half-pipe routine to showcase his skills at the leisure centre.

Racing will continue throughout the afternoon with the final race crossing the finish line between 3.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Prizes will be presented at around 4.30 p.m. when the Scottish Cartie Association Champion will be crowned.
