Canvass forms to be issued

Householders across Angus will soon be receiving a form asking them to check the accuracy of their information on the electoral register.

Its aim, part of the annual voter registration canvass, is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

With the Scottish Parliament elections taking place next May, this will provide an opportunity to make sure everyone eligible can take part.

With those aged 16 and over on May 5, 2016, now able to vote in this election, the Electoral Registration Officer for Angus Council is also encouraging those eligible to vote for the time time to register.

Alastair Kirkwood, electoral registration office, said: “The annual canvass is an opportunity for people to easily check whether they’re registered. Anyone who wants to vote must also be registered, including anyone who will be 16 years old by November 30, 2016.”

The form should be returned as soon as possible but replies can also be online, by telephone and by text. Anyone not registered can do so at
