There is still time to lodge nominations for this year’s Angus Ambassador Awards, right up to the deadline of September 17.
Ambassador Awards recognise excellence across a number of fields and winners receive a trophy on the evening, a visit from the Provost of Angus while the youth award winner and runner-up receive cash prizes.
John Forster is one of the judges as well as a former Angus Business Ambassador Award winner and his Brechin-based company is sponsoring the Angus Ambassador of the Year Award.
He said: “The judges are looking for projects and initiatives that stand out. The best tip if you want to become a finalist is to give the judges clear reasons why you should win and provide as much evidence as you can to support these reasons. It doesn’t stop at the awards either as organisers are looking at ways that winners can benefit beyond the ceremony if they want to through Provost visits, mentorship opportunities and speaker opportunities at industry and community events.”
The Angus Ambassador of the Year Award will be decided by a Champions group made up of Angus leaders and former award winners. Categories include the Business Award sponsored by Enterprise North East Trust, the Community Award sponsored by Voluntary Action Angus, the International Award sponsored by Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort, the Tourism Award sponsored by Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort and the Youth Award sponsored by Dundee & Angus College. Applications can be found at www.angusahead.com/awards or at access offices, libraries and leisure centres and all entries will be entered into a prize draw to win a hamper of Angus produce. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on November 29 at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel.
