The May £250 sponsorship cheque from the Forfar Roof Truss Company has been awarded to 2231 Forfar Squadron Air Training Corps.

The application from Bill McLaren, chairman of the civilian committee, explained the committee is trying to raise funds to purchase a new computer system for the squadron.

He said: “These computers are required to assist our cadets in their studies and on-line examinations which will, in turn, enable them to progress through the ranks.

“These computers could also be used to enhance the proposed installation of flight simulation programmes which again would assist cadets in their completion of flight simulation studies and on-line examinations.

“We organise fund-raising events throughout the year and have raised some funds which have brought us closer to the target we have set to fulfil our requirements.”

Every month the Forfar Roof Truss Company presents a £250 sponsorship cheque to a local group or individual chosen by our judging panel.

You can apply in writing to Forfar Roof Truss Company Sponsorship Project, c/o Angus County Press Ltd., 117 to 119 Castle Street, Forfar, DD8 3AH by the last day in any given month. Your application should include relevant background information on you or the organisation you represent and how the £250 could be used. Repeat applications will be accepted.
