Market to introduce loyalty card

The stallholders from the Angus Farmers Market will be setting up in their brand new venue this Saturday, at the Strathmore Hall, the Mart, John Street from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Strathmore Hall was officially opened last year and is a fantastic spacious home for the farmers market - parking, toilets and catering are all available making it a pleasurable experience for all ages.

Organisers are excited to introduce their Market Loyalty Card.

Customers will receive a card on Saturday and, once they collect six stamps by attending the market either in Forfar, Montrose or indeed both, they will be entered into a draw at the December Forfar market.

The prize is for £150 worth of market vouchers just in time to fill your freezer or buy your turkey for Christmas.

The loyalty cards will be given out on Saturday at the market.

Cooking demonstrations using market ingredients will be a regular event at the indoor market and will take place throughout the morning.

A cake decorating competition for the children will also take place around 10 am.

This month new season Scottish asparagus and sweet and juicy local strawberries are among the many treats in store for the shoppers.

The market boasts a wide range of meats, poultry and seafood ready for the barbecue.

For something a little different Hubertus Game from Pitlochry has recently introduced a new product - mixed game kebabs ready to throw on the barbecue or under the grill.

Quality food needs little effort to make it taste delicious and Mike from Hubertus makes it even easier with his wild boar fillet ready to cook in a succulent Chinese glaze.

Devenick Dairy is continually increasing the products it makes from milk and this month the business brings three new products- Irn Bru cheesecake, After Eight cheesecake and delicious frozen yogurt.

Devenick also have new blue cheese oatcakes, the perfect partner for one of their aptly named cheeses like “the coos are oot” and “Fet Like”, both available to taste at the stall.

All in all, Saturday mornings at the Mart will be a regular date for picking up quality foods in a relaxed and friendly environment.
